Volunteering Opportunities
Citizens Advice Havering is a local volunteer-led charity. Volunteers help with everything we do and they make our work possible.
There are many ways to get involved. Our volunteer opportunities include - giving advice, reception, administration, campaigning, IT, social media, trusteeship and fundraising.
We will train and support you in the role of your choice. You will learn new skills, develop existing ones and be able to use the skills and experience you already have to help others.
We are committed to equal opportunities for everyone and welcomes volunteers of all ages from a range of different backgrounds.
This is a chance for you to make a real difference in people’s lives. Come and join us.

New* Vacancy for new trustee

We are looking for a new Trustee to join our Board:

-
Our treasurer retires from her position next year. We would like to recruit an accountant as part of our succession plan so that they have time to understand the financing of a charity before her term ends. If you have experience in charity or company finance then a formal qualification in accountancy may not be necessary as we have a paid Finance Officer who prepares the accounts.
-
From our skills audit, having at least 5 years’ experience in people management and experience in fund raising would be an advantage.
What you need to know:

-
The minimum time required is attendance at 4 Trustee Board meetings per annum lasting approximately 2 hours and one away day per year. The meetings tend to be on a Wednesday evening from 6pm – 8 pm, either in Romford or virtually and will require some preparation time for each meeting.
-
We like Trustees to attend the monthly staff and volunteer meetings occasionally. They are held either virtually, or in Romford during working hours;
-
There are also sub-committees within the organisation. For example, the Finance Committee, meetings are every 2-3 months.
-
Due to the times of some of the meetings, if you are currently in paid employment, we would like you to have the support of your employers whom we would expect to see this volunteering as part of their Corporate Responsibility to local society.
-
There are comprehensive in-house e-learning Training Programmes and a mass of online information is available to support Trustees. There are also occasional external events organised specifically for Trustees to help them carry out their duties responsibly. Contact sue.dix1@tiscali.co.uk
